What is a Certified Translation?
In Portugal, as in many other countries, a Certified Translation consists of a notary approved document that certifies the identity of the person who performed a translation, through which he or she assures the faithfulness of the translation regarding the original document produced.
Basically, the certification process gives the translated document the same legal value as its original.
In certain circumstances, the Portuguese authorities only recognize the validity of foreign documents if their respective translations have been certified.
What do I need to do?

In 3 to 5 business days, the certified translation will be delivered to your doorstep via courier/secure mail
What do I get?
The Certified Translation consists of 3 documents:
1. CERTIFICATION
A Certificate, signed and sealed by the notary and the translator, with the translator's details and information regarding the translation itself
In this sworn statement, the person who performed the translation holds himself or herself responsible for the faithfulness of the translation in regards to the original document
2. ORIGINAL
The original document, signed and sealed by the notary and the translator
Sometimes, when certifying the translation of Diplomas, for example, it is best to use a legalized copy of the document for the certification procedure. That way, your original document will not be damaged
3. TRANSLATION
The document's translation, signed and sealed by the notary and the translator
This is the actual translation of the document you provided, which, in addition to the translators and notary's signatures, will also bear a small written statement, from the translator, assuming the authorship of the translation
Sworn Translators - Yes or No?
Who is authorized to certify a translation in Portugal?
Although many of our linguists, being nationals of other countries, are Sworn Translators, Portuguese authorities do not recognize this status and, therefore, if the translation of your document is not certified by authorized entities it may not be accepted in Portugal.
If you need a Certified Translation, you will have to request this service from the entities duly authorized.
In Portugal, a Certified Translation can be legally performed by:
